On June 5th the world will see the planet Venus pass between the Sun and the Earth for the last time for another hundred and five years, and Fairbanks will be a prime spot for viewing this transit.
Join the Fairbanks Astronomical Unit and NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory at the Noel Wien Public Library to celebrate, and safely get a good look as the planet slowly moves across the face of the Sun. The event is free, from 1:45PM to 8:30PM, and will include solar viewing telescopes, public talks, and hands-on activities for the whole family.
More information on this astrological event may be found at the NASA Eclipse and Transit of Venus.org web sites.
